Wie kann eine solidarische, vielfältige und lebenswerte Zukunft in Wien aussehen?
Bei den Utopia Days entwickeln wir gemeinsam Ideen für ein gutes Zusammenleben und eine Zukunft, auf die wir uns freuen können. Dich erwarten Workshops, Musik, Kunst, gemeinsames Essen und viel Raum für Austausch. Dabei geht es unter anderem um Care, Konsens, Klimagerechtigkeit, und gemeinschaftliche Stadtgestaltung.
Komm vorbei, bring deine Perspektive ein und gestalte die Zukunft mit! Das Programm ist kostenlos und offen für alle – unabhängig von Alter, Herkunft oder Vorwissen.

Kostnixladen
Der Kostnix-Laden ist ein Ort des bedingungslosen Geben und Nehmens. Wir wollen mit diesem Projekt versuchen, der Vergesellschaftung durch Geld-, Waren- und Tauschbeziehungen etwas entgegen zu stellen und Alternativen zum Kapitalismus aufzeigen. Der Kostnix-Laden hat Räumlichkeiten im 12. Bezirk, dort können Menschen Dinge abgegeben und/oder mitnehmen – ohne Zwang einer Gegenleistung, denn es geht nicht ums Tauschen, sondern ums Teilen. Im Rahmen der Utopia Days möchten wir mit einem mobilen Kostnix-Laden vor Ort sein und die Menschen über unser Projekt, sowie über die Tauschökonomie im Allgemeinen informieren.

Workshop 12h – 15h : degrowth?! / hosted by degrowth vienna (de/en)
Degrowth will ein gutes Leben für alle möglich machen, indem der Fokus der Wirtschaft neu asgerichtet wird – weg von Profit und Wachstum, hin zu dem was wir als Menschen zum Leben wirklich brauchen. Für viele klingt das aber zu abstrakt um sich vorstellen zu können, wie das in der Realität aussehen könnte. Eine bedingungslose Grundversorgung klingt beispielsweise super, aber wie ist so etwas praktisch umsetzbar und was bedeutet das genau?
In diesem interaktiven Workshop werden wir die Grundideen und die Vision von Degrowth vorstellen. Anschließend werden wir konkrete Projekte erkunden, die Degrowth bereits umsetzen und gemeinsam überlegen, was sie für das Erreichen unserer Degrowth Utopie bedeuten.

Workshop 12h – ca. 14h30 Awareness und Care-City – Wien 2050 / hosted by AwA* (de/en)
Wie kann Awareness-Arbeit zu einer sich sorgenden Stadt beitragen? In einem gemeinsamen Format wollen wir uns mit Awareness-Arbeit und wie diese in Stadt und Raum verankert werden kann überlegen.
Wie wollen wir in unseren Städten zusammenleben – und wer darf überhaupt mitbestimmen, wie gestaltet wird?
Das Recht auf Stadt bedeutet nicht nur, darin zu wohnen, sondern sie aktiv mitzugestalten: Räume zu schaffen, in denen Menschen sich sicher, sichtbar und willkommen fühlen. Doch Sicherheit wird oft mit Kontrolle oder Überwachung verwechselt – dabei entsteht echte Sicherheit durch Care, Solidarität und gegenseitige Verantwortung.
In diesem Workshop fragen wir, was eine feministische, intersektionale Stadt sein kann – eine Stadt, die sich an den Bedürfnissen der Menschen orientiert. Wir verbinden Awareness-Arbeit mit Ideen aus feministischen und anderen Bewegungen: Wie können Fürsorge, Selbstbestimmung und gemeinschaftliches Handeln zur Grundlage einer Stadt werden, in der nicht ausgeschlossen wird?

Samstag, 24.10. 16h – 18h Transformation – aber wie?
Ökopsychologie, Active Hope und Deep Adaptation als Erfahrungsraum
Klimakrise, Artensterben und gesellschaftliche Umbrüche werfen Fragen auf, die sich nicht allein mit Fakten beantworten lassen. Dieser zweistündige Workshop lädt dazu ein, einen sicheren Raum zu betreten, in dem Gefühle, Unsicherheit und Hoffnung gleichermaßen Platz haben.
Ausgehend von Konzepten der Ökopsychologie, The Work That Reconnects nach Joanna Macy sowie Impulsen aus Deep Adaptation und Post Doom entstehen in Kleingruppen Momente der Verbindung, des Innehaltens und des gemeinsamen Perspektivwechsels. Mit Methoden wie achtsamem Zuhören (Deep Listening) richten wir den Blick über Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft hinaus und erkunden, welche neuen Geschichten und lebendigen Utopien JETZT entstehen können.
Ein erfahrungsorientierter Workshop für alle, die Transformation nicht nur verstehen, sondern auch verkörpern möchten.

Die Donauinsel: der Strand der Wiener*innen. Naturparadies. Sportgelände. Treffpunkt.
Aber auch: Angegafft werden beim Baden. Verfolgt werden beim im Gebüsch aufs Klo gehen. Sexuelle Übergriffe. Unsicherheiten. Angst. Wut, dass einem ein schöner Sommertag wieder von einem ekelhaften Typen versaut wird.
In diesem interaktiven Workshop soll, ausgehend von eigenen Erfahrungen, überlegt werden, wie wir uns unsere Insel so gestalten können, dass sich alle wohlfühlen – abseits von staatlichen Überwachungsdiskursen.
Zum einen soll es Raum geben über persönliche Erfahrungen und die Gefühle, die sie in uns auslösen zu sprechen.
Zum anderen wollen wir kreativ und frei über Lösungen nachdenken, wie Freiräume, wie die Donauinsel für alle gleichermaßen zugänglich sein können.
Der Workshop wird sehr offen gestaltet, um, je nachdem was die Personen einbringen, eine utopische Donauinsel gemeinsam zu entwerfen.

Mit Sprache utopische Realitäten schaffen: Sprache ist grundlegendes Gestaltungselement unserer Realität. Unsere politischen Systeme wie auch unsere innere Welt werden maßgeblich von Sprache konstruiert. Was sich unter Einhaltung formaler, grammatikalischen Regeln „richtig“ ausdrücken lässt, ist in jeder Sprache begrenzt. Das Feld des Sagbaren bildet eine Einschränkung dessen, was wir uns vorstellen, bzw. welche unserer Vorstellungen wir zufriedenstellend an Andere kommunizieren können.
In meiner künstlerischen Praxis wird Sprache ihres Regelwerks enthoben. Aus einem Archiv von mittlerweile tausenden Papierschnipsel aus Zeitschriften und Büchern, suche ich Worte, Satzbausteine und passende Schriftzüge, um kathartische Ausdrucksformen für die abstraktesten Gefühlslandschaften und drängendsten Ängste zu finden. Der sprachliche Handlungsspielraum und das Feld des Sagbaren werden abseits von Kategorien formeller Richtigkeit erweitert. Damit lassen sich Realitäten imaginieren und kommunizieren, die fernab dessen liegen, was sich anhand unserer politischen Gegenwart erwarten und hoffen lässt.
Unter dem Motto Wien 2050 möchte ich ein offenes Workshopformat anbieten, in dem mit Papierschnipsel aus lokalen Printmedien der letzten Monate neue, utopische Schlagzeilen für Wiens Zukunft gebastelt werden. Der Workshop wäre für Kinder sowie Erwachsene zugänglich. Dauer von ca 4Stunden, mit der Möglichkeit zu Kommen und Gehen, wie man möchte.

In einer utopischen Welt gibt es keine Parlamente und keine Parteien. Stattdessen werden die Entscheiderinnen per Losverfahren aus der Bevölkerung ausgelost. Diese Vision haben die drei Rednerinnen. Sie sind aktiv in sozialen Bewegungen und haben sich viele Gedanken über die Zukunft der Demokratie und um Politik von unten gemacht. Diese zu erträumen passt doch perfekt zu einem Utopie Kongress. 3 Redner*innen und ein Moderator diskutieren miteinander und sind offen für Fragen aus dem Publikum.

15h30 – 18h30 Workshop Consent and Boundaries of Love (de/en)
Workshop zu Consent und Boundaries, der auf etwas abgeänderten Grundlagen des „Wheel of Consent“ von Dr. Betty Martins basiert.
Nach einer kurzen Einleitung in das „Wichtigste Teil des Rades“ geht es sogleich in eine Übung: Durch das 3-Minute-Game lernt mensch, wie mensch nach dem eigenen höchsten Genuss (Pleasure) fragt, und mensch erlernt auch, was es bedeutet mit 100% vollem Herzen zu geben. Eine 100% konsent-hafte Berührung ist das Ergebnis: und ein wahrer Traum. Für viele ist das der erste Kontakt mit Boundaries, die nach dem höchsten Genuss greifen: zutiefst sinnlich, und ganz explizit ohne Schuld oder Scham.

An auto-ethnographic poetic documentary, featuring images of embodied explorations by and for trans* bodyminds, exploring formats of tender and careful anchoring that center practices weaving ways of knowing, sensing & listening between humans and more-than-humans. A group of trans* bodies tap into hormonal flows of the cosmic ecosystem and spin concepts of trans*plantimalities, herbalism, anarchy, abolition, disability justice and neuroqueerness into emergent strategies. Through movement and touch in the surroundings they explore the intentional support of comfort & safety hormones such as serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin. These tactile & haptic methods are informed by consent and boundary love, creating accessible collaborative group environments.
The film prioritises access as a precondition of the work itself; audio description and open captioning are inseparable, constitutive aspects of the movie, that shows that accessibility is not a restriction of artistic freedom, but its prerequisite.

Wir möchten Musik und Klänge erleben –
um zu erkunden, was Musik bewirken kann und wohin sie uns bewegt, wenn wir uns erlauben, ihr einfach zuzuhören, ohne sie als richtig oder falsch zu bewerten. Gemeinsam erzeugen wir Klänge, hören einander zu und spielen, was wir können, was wir wollen und wie wir uns gerade fühlen.
Wir treffen uns einmal im Monat sonntags, um gemeinsam Musik zu machen, zu improvisieren, zu experimentieren und die Woche sanft ausklingen zu lassen.
Bringt gerne eure Instrumente, Klangobjekte oder Geräte mit – aber auch ohne Instrument seid ihr herzlich willkommen; es stehen einige Dinge zur Verfügung 🙂

Degrowth Utopias: From abstract ideals to concrete projects
Degrowth envisions a world where a good life is possible for all through a refocusing of the economy away from profits and growth towards the things we actually need to thrive. However, for many people it is difficult to imagine how a degrowth society could work in practice and what it would look like. Concepts like Universal Basic Services often sound to abstract to inspire action in our daily lives.
In this interactive workshop we will first introduce the basic ideas and vision of degrowth and then dive into concrete projects that already put degrowth into action and what we can learn from them to build a real degrowth utopia.

At Utopia Days, we come together to develop ideas for living well together and for a future we can look forward to. Expect workshops, music, art, shared meals, and plenty of space for exchange. Topics include care, consent, climate justice, and community-based urban design.

Kostnixladen
The Kostnix-Laden is a place for unconditional giving and taking. With this project, we want to challenge a society organised around money, commodities, and exchange, and show alternatives to capitalism. The Kostnix-Laden has a space in Vienna’s 12th district where people can drop off and/or take things – with no expectation of anything in return, because this is not about exchanging, but about sharing. As part of the Utopia Days, we would like to be there with a mobile Kostnix-Laden and inform people about our project as well as about exchange economies in general.

Degrowth aims to make a good life for everyone possible by redirecting the focus of the economy – away from profit and growth, and towards what we as human beings actually need to live. For many people, however, this sounds too abstract to imagine what it could look like in reality. An unconditional basic provision, for example, sounds great, but how could something like this actually be implemented, and what exactly would it mean?
In this interactive workshop, we will introduce the basic ideas and vision of Degrowth. We will then explore concrete projects that are already putting Degrowth into practice and discuss together what they might mean for achieving our Degrowth utopia.

How can awareness work contribute to a caring city? In this collective workshop, we want to explore awareness work and how it can be embedded in the city and in urban spaces.
How do we want to live together in our cities – and who gets to have a say in how they are designed?
The right to the city means not only living in it, but actively shaping it: creating spaces where people feel safe, visible, and welcome. Yet safety is often confused with control or surveillance – when in fact, genuine safety emerges through care, solidarity, and mutual responsibility.
In this workshop, we ask what a feminist, intersectional city could look like – a city oriented towards people’s needs. We connect awareness work with ideas from feminist and other social movements: How can care, self-determination, and collective action become the foundation of a city that does not exclude?

Saturday, 24.10. 16h – 18h: Transformation – but how?
Ecopsychology, Active Hope and Deep Adaptation as a space for experience
The climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and social upheavals raise questions that cannot be answered by facts alone. This two-hour workshop invites participants into a safe space where feelings, uncertainty, and hope can all have a place.
Drawing on concepts from ecopsychology, Joanna Macy’s The Work That Reconnects, as well as impulses from Deep Adaptation and Post Doom, we will create moments of connection, pause, and shared shifts in perspective in small groups. Using methods such as Deep Listening, we will look beyond the past, present, and future and explore what new stories and living utopias can emerge NOW.
An experiential workshop for everyone who wants not only to understand transformation, but to embody it.

Workshop 16h – 18h30: Donauinsel. Open Space for Everyone?!?!
The Donauinsel: Vienna’s beach. A natural paradise. A place for sports. A meeting place.
But also: being stared at while swimming. Being followed when going to the toilet in the bushes. Sexual harassment. Feeling unsafe. Fear. Anger that another beautiful summer day has once again been ruined by some disgusting guy.
Starting from our own experiences, this interactive workshop will explore how we can shape our island so that everyone feels comfortable – beyond state surveillance discourses.
On the one hand, there will be space to talk about personal experiences and the feelings they evoke in us.
On the other, we want to think creatively and freely about solutions for making public spaces such as the Donauinsel equally accessible to everyone.
The workshop will be very open-ended, allowing us to collectively design a utopian Donauinsel depending on what participants bring to the discussion.

Creating utopian realities through language
Language is a fundamental tool for shaping our reality. Our political systems, as well as our inner worlds, are significantly constructed through language. What can be expressed while following formal grammatical rules is limited in every language. The field of what can be said restricts what we can imagine, as well as which of our ideas we can communicate satisfactorily to others.
In my artistic practice, language is freed from its rules. From an archive of thousands of paper scraps from magazines and books, I select words, sentence fragments, and matching typefaces to find cathartic forms of expression for the most abstract emotional landscapes and pressing fears. The scope of linguistic action and the field of what can be said are expanded beyond categories of formal correctness. This makes it possible to imagine and communicate realities far removed from what we might expect or hope for based on our current political reality.
Under the motto Vienna 2050, I would like to offer an open workshop in which participants use paper cuttings from local print media from recent months to create new, utopian headlines for Vienna’s future. The workshop will be open to children and adults. It will last approximately four hours, with participants free to come and go as they please.

In a utopian world, there are no parliaments and no political parties. Instead, decision-makers are selected from the population by lottery. This is the vision shared by our three speakers. They are active in social movements and have given a great deal of thought to the future of democracy and grassroots politics. Dreaming up such a future seems like a perfect fit for a Utopia Congress. Three speakers and a moderator will discuss these ideas together and are open to questions from the audience.

A workshop on consent and boundaries, based on adapted principles of Dr. Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent.
After a short introduction to the “most important part of the wheel”, we will move straight into an exercise: Through the 3-Minute Game, participants learn how to ask about their own highest level of pleasure, as well as what it means to give with 100% of one’s heart. The result is touch that is 100% consensual – and a true dream. For many, this is their first encounter with boundaries that reach towards the highest level of pleasure: deeply sensual, and explicitly free from guilt or shame.

An auto-ethnographic poetic documentary featuring images of embodied explorations by and for trans* bodyminds, exploring forms of tender and careful anchoring that centre practices of weaving ways of knowing, sensing, and listening between humans and more-than-humans. A group of trans* bodies tap into the hormonal flows of the cosmic ecosystem and weave concepts of trans*plantimalities, herbalism, anarchy, abolition, disability justice, and neuroqueerness into emerging strategies. Through movement and touch in their surroundings, they explore the intentional support of comfort and safety hormones such as serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin. These tactile and haptic methods are informed by consent and boundary love, creating accessible, collaborative group environments.
The film prioritises access as a precondition of the work itself; audio description and open captioning are inseparable, constitutive aspects of the film, demonstrating that accessibility is not a restriction of artistic freedom, but its prerequisite.

17h – 19h: Music Group 4 Alle – What Does Utopia Sound Like? (de/en)
We want to experience music and sound – to explore what music can do and where it can take us when we allow ourselves simply to listen to it, without judging it as right or wrong. Together, we create sounds, listen to one another, and play what we can, what we want, and what feels right in the moment.
We meet once a month on Sundays to make music together, improvise, experiment, and gently bring the week to a close.
Feel free to bring your instruments, sound objects, or devices – but you are very welcome even without an instrument; there will be some things available to use 🙂
No problem if you missed previous sessions – you are always warmly invited to join.

Wir werden den Workshop auch nutzen, um ein Poster und einen Flyer für die Utopia Days zu gestalten.

22 July 2026 at 7.00 pm – 4lthangrund 1200 – Romanogasse 28, DIY Media Workshop. Together with biblio>media:take!, the mobile information centre collective, there will be a workshop on how to create DIY media such as zines. We’ll also be using the workshop to design a poster and a flyer for Utopia Days.
