4lthangrund übersiedelt in neue Räume – und wir brauchen Unterstützung. Denn es braucht weiterhin Raum, der offen ist für alle: für Kultur, Carearbeit, Nachbarschaft, Austausch und Diskurs.
Seit 2018 ist im 4lthangrund ein Ort entstanden, an dem mehr als 40 Gruppen aktiv sind und Menschen gemeinsam gestalten, lernen, feiern und sich umeinander kümmern.
Im Jänner 2026 läuft unser Nutzungsvertrag aus – ein vergleichbar leistbarer Raum fehlt. Seit fast einem Jahr beobachten wir den Mietmarkt und sind in vielen Verhandlungen. Wir konnten erste Räume finden und sind derzeit in Gesprächen über einen zweiten Standort. Diese neuen Orte werden wir in Kürze vorstellen.
Was wir jetzt schon sagen können: Die neuen Räume gehen mit größeren Mehrkosten einher. Mehr Miete, Raumadaptionskosten, Renovierung, Makler:innenkosten, Ablöse und Kaution bedeuten, dass wir dringend finanziellen Support brauchen, um gut in die Zukunft von 4lthangrund starten zu können. Hierbei geht es um knapp 50.000 Euro, von denen wir bereits rund 15.000 organisieren konnten.
Auch sonst braucht es Support – viele Hände, die mit anpacken. Beim Umsiedeln, Renovieren oder Adaptieren freuen wir uns über jede Unterstützung. Wer mitmachen möchte, kann sich unter 4lle@4lthangrund.jetzt melden.
Das letzte halbe Jahr der Suche hat einmal mehr drastisch gezeigt, wie schwierig es um Raum steht. Wir wünschen uns, dass Wien Orte erhält und ermöglicht, die barrierefrei, solidarisch und leistbar sind – Orte, an denen gesellschaftliches Leben möglich ist, ohne Konsumzwang und mit Verantwortung im Miteinander.
Denn ein Wien für alle braucht Räume für alle.

4lthangrund is moving into new spaces – and we need your support. We want to continue creating spaces that are open to everyone: for culture, care work, neighborhood projects, exchange, and discussion.
Since 2018, 4lthangrund has been a place where more than 40 groups are active — people create, learn, celebrate, and take care of one another.
In January 2026, our current contract will expire — and there is no comparably affordable space available. For almost a year, we’ve been looking for affordable spaces and negotiating multiple possibilities. We have found a first space and are currently in talks about a second location. These new places will be announced soon.
What we can already say: the new spaces come with significantly higher costs. Higher rent, renovation and adaptation work, agency fees, deposits, and other expenses mean we urgently need financial support to start this next chapter for 4lthangrund. The overall need is around €50,000, of which we have already secured about €15,000.
We also need practical support — many hands to help! Anyone who can assist with moving, renovation, or adaptations is very welcome. To get involved, please contact 4lle@4lthangrund.jetzt.
The past months of searching have once again shown how difficult it has become to find space in Vienna. We hope the city will sustain and create places that are accessible, affordable, and based on solidarity — spaces where social life is possible without consumption and with mutual care and responsibility.

Foodcoop 4lthangrund
We are Foodcoop 4lthangrund, a collective founded in Augasse in the winter of 2019. Our main goal is to organize ourselves so that we can buy less from supermarkets and buy as much of our food as possible directly from producers instead. We buy fairly produced coffee and tea, homemade jam, directly traded olive oil and organic vegetables from an organic supplier and directly from producers.
Since the beginning, 4lthangrund has been the place where our activities have taken shape. Vegetables are delivered there every two weeks, and on Fridays, our members come to collect their shares. Depending on the season, between 30 and 60 people participate in the Foodcoop, and while not all of them visit 4lthangrund at the same time, they all rely on the space for their deliveries.
The infrastructure at 4lthangrund enables us to do our work: it provides enough space to store deliveries, and fridges to keep vegetables fresh and make pick-ups more flexible. Without this cultural centre, organising such a large and diverse group of people in direct exchange with local producers would not be possible.
4lthangrund is more than just a storage and distribution point, it is a place of connection. Many of our members have discovered and become involved in other projects and initiatives through visiting, taking part in events or simply meeting like-minded people with whom to share a conversation and learn something new.

It is great to be able to gather organic and mostly regional vegetables next to my working place. It is not only equitable, it reduces the stress of wandering big industrial complexes of consumation and exploitatiom. For me it just feels more personal and good to be part of this cooperation. I am in the foodcoop since a few month now and i am really impressed by the fresh, super tasty vegetables. I am a chef and I am searching some time for an affordable alternative to supermarket vegetables. I think it is important to also buy seasonal and regional products, for the climate but also cause the quality is important for me. I like to cook a lot and when my food tastes like the vegetables i am using. Also i got to know Althangrund a bit and I really like what they created there, a social, self-organised space with several different activities for the community and neighbourhood. Wir sind die Foodcoop 4lthangrund, ein Kollektiv, das im Winter 2019 in der Augasse gegründet wurde. Unser Hauptziel ist es, uns so zu organisieren, dass wir weniger in Supermärkten einkaufen müssen und stattdessen so viel wie möglich unserer Lebensmittel direkt von Produzent_innen beziehen können. Wir kaufen fair produzierten Kaffee und Tee, hausgemachte Marmelade, direkt gehandelte Olivenöle sowie Bio-Gemüse sowohl über einen Bio-Großhändler als auch direkt von Produzent_innen.
Seit Beginn ist 4lthangrund der Ort, an dem unsere Aktivitäten Gestalt annehmen. Alle zwei Wochen werden dort die Gemüselieferungen angeliefert, und freitags kommen unsere Mitglieder, um ihre Anteile abzuholen. Je nach Jahreszeit beteiligen sich zwischen 30 und 60 Personen an der Foodcoop. Auch wenn nicht alle gleichzeitig vor Ort sind, sind sie alle auf den Raum für ihre Lieferungen angewiesen.
Die Infrastruktur im 4lthangrund ermöglicht uns unsere Arbeit: Es gibt genug Platz, um Lieferungen zu lagern, und Kühlschränke, um das Gemüse frisch zu halten und die Abholzeiten flexibler zu gestalten. Ohne dieses Kulturzentrum wäre es nicht möglich, eine so große und vielfältige Gruppe von Menschen in direktem Austausch mit lokalen Produzent*innen zu organisieren.
4lthangrund ist mehr als nur ein Lager- und Verteilpunkt – es ist ein Ort der Begegnung. Viele unserer Mitglieder haben durch Besuche, Veranstaltungen oder einfach durch Gespräche mit Gleichgesinnten andere Projekte und Initiativen kennengelernt und sich dort engagiert.

UNTER PALMEN
UNTER PALMEN ist ein linkes Medienkollektiv aus Wien. Wir sind überzeugt: Ein besseres Leben für alle braucht politische Bildung und basisdemokratische Organisierung! In unserer Zeitung, unserem Newsletter, unserer Radio-Show und unserem Podcast vermitteln wir Wissen deshalb kritisch, solidarisch und leicht zugänglich. Wir verstehen uns als Brücke zwischen Aktivist_innen, Akademia und Zivilgesellschaft und sind Anlaufstelle für Medieninteressierte, die erste Erfahrungen im journalistischen Arbeiten machen möchten.
Wir sind seit Sekunde eins Teil des Kulturzentrums 4lthangrund. Seitdem haben wir dort hunderte Stunden mit Redaktionssitzungen oder Workshops verbracht, diverse Veranstaltungen organisiert und die Räumlichkeiten genutzt, um unsere Zeitungen und Equipment zu lagern. Noch viel wichtiger sind für uns die Vernetzungsmöglichkeiten, die der 4lthangrund bietet: Das vielfältige Spektrum an anderen aktivistischen Gruppen und Initiativen, die das Kulturzentrum bereichern, inspiriert unsere Arbeit, erleichtert uns die Kontaktaufnahme zu spannenden Interviewpartner*innen und ermöglicht, dass wir noch mehr Menschen mit unseren Formaten erreichen.
UNTER PALMEN braucht das 4lthangrund Kulturzentrum! Nur wenn wir Raum zum Sein haben, haben wir auch Raum, Ideen zu entfalten, Wissen weiterzugeben und zu einem solidarischen Wien beizutragen.

GSIS
We are a so-called independent research institution in the transdisciplinary field of critical social, ecological and technological sciences. We investigate the causes of the existential threats to humanity and aim to contribute to the broad awareness of how to overcome them. Since we are a non-profit association by Austrian law, our activities depend on donations, support by public sector funds and the opportunity to benefit from low-budget offers. Thus, the coworking space of 4lthangrund has been the perfect working environment.
In 2023, we searched for a venue of a three days conference for 100 people: “Utopia(s) reloaded: Science, activism and the techno-eco-social transformation”. Friends of us told us about the “Alte Mensa”. It was a complete success (https://gsis.at/2023/12/04/utopias-reloaded-talks-v-summary/, video: https://vimeo.com/890635204?fl=pl&fe=vl) . We asked to become member of 4lthangrund and did not regret it.
As a result, we started a series of “Utopia(s) conversations” on a convivial society for all, on a sustainable planet, and on meaningful technologies, which, with the help of the district, was subsidised by Culture Vienna (list of videos: https://gsis.at/youtube/).
It is clear that sharing resources enables a self-organised community like 4lthangrund to generate synergy effects to the benefit of all. Although 4lthangrund connects very diverse groups, it succeeds to build a feeling of solidarity and support to each other. We are all different but our primary goal is to make society better and friendlier.
It would be a shame, if such a model were to be ruined.

AwA*
English:
We are AwA* – a collective that set out to do awareness work as direct and easily accessible support for people who experience violence, harrassment or discrimination at events or in the public space. We also educate on these topics and support groups, organisations and spaces that want to build their own awareness structures. We give workshops for awareness teams in Vienna and elsewhere. Our activities further include networking and collaborations with others towards establishing support structures based on important standards.
AwA* also supports with an awareness team at 4lthangrund parties and concerts, making people feel welcome and safer, being always available for a talk.
4lthangrund is our “home” since 2019: Here we meet, exchange, create, organise and discuss and share an office with other amazing groups and activists. It’s also the place where our texts, funding applications and project reports for the city of Vienna are written, where we do night shifts for our public space project; where we hold workshops, meetings and other events such as conferences where we invite awareness workers from other cities and countries to connect and share ideas and thoughts. But 4lthangrund is also where we can hang out, enjoy the space and participate in the monthly programme.
For us, 4lthangrund is a space that we can inhabit with all our different needs, that we co-inhabit with the various plants that seem to live an own and secret life by themselves, and that we slowly but steadily grew into a symbiosis with our activities. Being shaped by the variety of the rooms, our material expanding as far as there is space in storage, our night shifts being swallowed by music roaring on the other side of our office walls every now and then. Without 4lthangrund, our educational work would shrink down onto rooms that feel like boring offices and without our workplace embedded in the social life of the cultural center, our creativity and productivity would wither like our one and only brave office tomato plant. We would miss the infoshop and the freeshop, that allows us to provide lots of zines and spare clothes for the people we meet, the kitchen that inspired us to cook for our meetings and the interruption that spontanious GrätzlRad pick-ups sometimes cause.
We built a bond not only to those who became part of our collective over the years, but also the people we share this space with and the ones who enjoy chilling out in front of it – we built a bond with all the people who became part of our work and every-day life at 4lthangrund.
Even though, some change is inevitable right now, we do not want to miss this. We need to keep it: 4lthangrund for all forever!

Wir sind AwA* – ein Kollektiv, das sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, Aufklärungsarbeit zu leisten und Menschen, die bei Veranstaltungen oder im öffentlichen Raum Gewalt, Belästigung oder Diskriminierung erfahren, direkt und niederschwellig zu unterstützen. Wir klären auch über diese Themen auf und unterstützen Gruppen, Organisationen und Räume, die ihre eigenen Awareness-Strukturen aufbauen möchten. Wir bieten Workshops für Awarenessteams in Wien und anderswo an. Zu unseren Aktivitäten gehören außerdem die Vernetzung und Zusammenarbeit mit anderen, um Unterstützungsstrukturen auf der Grundlage wichtiger Standards aufzubauen.
AwA* unterstützt auch mit einem Awarenessteam bei 4lthangrund Partys und Konzerten, damit sich die Menschen willkommen und sicherer fühlen und immer jemanden zum Reden haben.
4lthangrund ist seit 2019 unser „Zuhause”: Hier treffen wir uns, tauschen uns aus, gestalten, organisieren und diskutieren und teilen uns ein Büro mit anderen großartigen Gruppen und Aktivist*innen. Es ist auch der Ort, an dem unsere Texte, Förderanträge und Projektberichte für die Stadt Wien geschrieben werden, an dem wir Nachtschichten für unser Projekt zum öffentlichen Raum leisten, an dem wir Workshops, Treffen und andere Veranstaltungen wie Konferenzen abhalten, zu denen wir Awareness-Tätige aus anderen Städten und Ländern einladen, um Kontakte zu knüpfen und Ideen und Gedanken auszutauschen. Aber 4lthangrund ist auch ein Ort, an dem wir abhängen, den Raum genießen und am monatlichen Programm teilnehmen können.
Für uns ist 4lthangrund ein Raum, den wir mit all unseren unterschiedlichen Bedürfnissen bewohnen können, den wir gemeinsam mit den verschiedenen Pflanzen bewohnen, die ein eigenes, geheimes Leben zu führen scheinen, und mit dem wir langsam aber sicher eine Symbiose mit unseren Aktivitäten eingegangen sind. Geprägt von der Vielfalt der Räume, unserem Material, das sich so weit ausbreitet, wie es der Lagerraum zulässt, unseren Nachtschichten, die hin und wieder von der Musik verschluckt werden, die auf der anderen Seite unserer Bürowände dröhnt. Ohne 4lthangrund würde unsere Bildungsarbeit auf Räume schrumpfen, die sich wie langweilige Büros anfühlen, und ohne unseren Arbeitsplatz, der in das soziale Leben des Kulturzentrums eingebettet ist, würden unsere Kreativität und Produktivität verkümmern wie unsere einzige tapfere Bürotomatenpflanze. Wir würden den Infoshop und den Freeshop vermissen, die es uns ermöglichen, den Menschen, denen wir begegnen, viele Zines und Ersatzkleidung zur Verfügung zu stellen, die Küche, die uns dazu inspiriert hat, für unsere Treffen zu kochen, und sogar die Unterbrechungen, die spontane GrätzlRad-Abholungen manchmal verursachen.
Wir haben nicht nur eine Verbindung zu denen aufgebaut, die im Laufe der Jahre Teil unseres Kollektivs geworden sind, sondern auch zu den Menschen, mit denen wir diesen Raum teilen, und denen, die es genießen, davor zu chillen – wir haben eine Verbindung zu allen Menschen aufgebaut, die Teil unserer Arbeit und unseres Alltags im 4lthangrund geworden sind.
Auch wenn einige Veränderungen derzeit unvermeidlich sind, wollen wir das alles nicht vermissen. Wir müssen es bewahren: 4lthangrund für Alle, für immer!

Solidarity Kitchen
Die Solidarity Kitchen ist eine anti-autoritäre Küfa und wir kochen nun schon seit über 3 Jahren zusammen. Wir nehmen öffentlichen Raum ein, um in Zeiten von Spaltung, Distanzierung und sozialer Vernachlässigung einen Platz der gegenseitigen Hilfe zu schaffen. Jede Woche kochen wir zusammen in der Mensa und bringen Essen an die Josefstädter Straße, um dort mit den Menschen zu essen und uns zu vernetzen.
Seit dem Sommer 2022 sind wir in der Mensa, im 4lthangrund, die uns einen Raum geboten hat, in dem wir all unsere Kochaktionen machen konnten. Wir versuchen durch gemeinsames Essen Grenzen zu überwinden und uns zu vernetzen. Wir sind selbstorganisiert und verfolgen kein kommerzielles Interesse und genau das wird im 4lthangrund nicht nur respektiert, sondern gefördert. Manchmal haben wir für 30 Leute manchmal für 600 gekocht und möglich waren große Kochaktionen nur dadurch, dass wir im 4lthangrund den Raum und die Zeit bekommen haben uns in der Küche auszubreiten.
Der 4lthangrund bildet einen Ort, an dem der Austausch von Wissen abseits von Kaufen und Konsumieren stattfindet, und in dem Solidarität möglich ist. Unsere wöchentlichen Aktionen konnten im 4lthangrund immer gut stattfinden. Solche Räume müssen verteidigt werden und es müssen noch mehr von ihnen geschaffen werden.

Soli-Kampagne 4lthangrund
„System change“ ist eine eine basisdemokratische Gruppe, die sich als Teil der globalen Klimagerechtigkeitsbewegung versteht. Wir wollen den Weg für einen gerechten Übergang in eine sozial-ökologische Gesellschaft bereiten. Wir vernetzen uns mit anderen Initiativen, unterstützen bestehende emanzipatorische Gruppen, organisieren Aktionen und machen Bildungsarbeit. Zuletzt haben wir die Bewegung gegen den Bau des Betonprojekts Ost“umfahrung“ in Wiener Neustadt unterstützt, die Kampagne „OMV Vergesellschaften“, „Wir fahren Gemeinsam“, das Bündniss der Block-Gas Proteste oder die Lobau Bleibt Proteste mitgetragen.
Wir sind eine der Gruppen, die die Räume des 4lthangrund in den letzten Jahren, mindestens seit 2022, aktiv mitgenutzt hat. Als es nur die Wolke gab, haben wir dort Plena und öffentliche Veranstaltungen abgehalten und seit es die alte Mensa gibt treffen wir uns als Gruppe auch dort sehr gerne cirka 1-2 Mal im Monat. Wir nutzen die Räume vor allem für interne Treffen. Von Zeit zu Zeit organisieren wir aber auch öffentliche Veranstaltungen im 4lthangrund. Im letzten Jahr beispielsweise eine Infoveranstaltung und gemeinsames Kochen mit Besuch von „Stop Cop City Atlanta“ oder die Podiumsdiskussion „gekauftes images: das schmutzige Geschäft mit dem kultursponsoring“. Außerdem besuchen wir auch gerne andere Veranstaltungen und Events die dort passieren, wie Filmeabende oder die Bildungsworkshops von „tipping points“ 2024.
Unsere liebsten Momente im 4lthangrund sind wahrscheinlich unsere Stammtische. Dabei treffen wir uns einmal im Moment mit vielen aktiven und nicht-mehr bei System Change-aktiven Menschen in der alten Mensa, sitzen zusammen tauschen uns aus und plaudern.
Wir schätzen am 4lthangrund insbesondere, dass es ein großes vielfältiges Areal ist, welches Raum für die verschiedensten linken und emanzipatorischen Veranstaltungen und Treffen bietet. Die gemütlichen Räume und die große Küche schaffen eine Wohlfühlatmosphäre, die ein lockeres Zusammenkommen ermöglichen aber auch perfekt für Bildungsarbeit, aktivistische Arbeit, das Vernetzen und das gemeinsame Feiern sind. Die Möglichkeit, dass im 4lthangrund größere Mengen an Menschen zusammenkommen können und wir dort auch selbst öffentliche Veranstaltungen hosten können, ist für uns einzigartig!
Wir zeigen uns solidarisch mit dem 4lthangrund und der prekären Raumsituation, die dem Kulturzentrum durch den Neubau des Geländes am Althangrund bevorsteht. In Zeiten multipler Kriesen ist der Abriss eines intakten Gebäudes für einen ressourcenintensiven Neubau ebenso fatal wie auch das Zerstören von selbstorganisierter, emanzipatorischen Kulturräumen, die an ihrem Standort lokal verankert und über Jahre hinweg gewachsen sind!

System Change is a grassroots democratic group that sees itself as part of the global climate justice movement. We want to pave the way for a just transition to a socio-ecological society. We network with other initiatives, support existing emancipatory groups, organise actions and carry out educational work. Most recently, we have supported the movement against the construction of the ‘Ostumfahrung’ bypass in Wiener Neustadt, the ‘OMV Vergesellschaften’ campaign, ‘Wir fahren Gemeinsam’ (We drive together), the alliance of Block-Gas protests and the Lobau Bleibt protests.
We are one of the groups that has actively used the rooms at 4lthangrund in recent years, at least since 2022. When there was only the Wolke, we held plenary meetings and public events there, and since the old canteen has been available, we also enjoy meeting there as a group about once or twice a month. We mainly use the rooms for internal meetings. From time to time, however, we also organise public events at 4lthangrund. Last year, for example, we held an information event and cooked together with visitors from ‘Stop Cop City Atlanta’ and held a panel discussion entitled ‘Bought images: the dirty business of cultural sponsorship’. We also enjoy attending other events that take place there, such as film evenings or the educational workshops organised by ‘tipping points’ in 2024.
Our favourite moments at 4lthangrund are probably our regular get togethers. Once a month, we meet up in the old canteen with lots of people who are active or no longer active in System Change, sit together, exchange ideas and chat.
What we particularly appreciate about 4lthangrund is that it is a large, diverse area that offers space for a wide variety of left-wing and emancipatory events and meetings. The cosy rooms and large kitchen create a feel-good atmosphere that is perfect for informal get-togethers, but also for educational work, activist work, networking and celebrating together. The fact that large numbers of people can gather at 4lthangrund and that we can also host public events there ourselves is unique, in our view.
We stand in solidarity with 4lthangrund and its precarious space situation, which the cultural centre faces due to the new construction on the Althangrund site. In times of multiple crises, the demolition of an intact building for a resource-intensive new construction is just as disastrous as the destruction of self-organised, emancipatory cultural spaces that are locally anchored and have grown over many years!

Musikgruppe
One of the guiding questions of our work has been: “What does 4lthangrund sound like?” In June 2025, together with the group “Raumstation,” we explored this question by walking through the former WU campus, collecting the sounds of the site and its surroundings. Back in the Spüle, we used these recordings as material for improvisation with our instruments. The result was two collaborative tracks – a rare outcome for us, since our focus is usually on the process itself – which capture different layers of what collaboration at 4lthangrund can mean.
The space itself has shaped our activities by giving us a context where curiosity, exchange, and experimentation are welcome. At the same time, we have contributed to the cultural life of the center through performances, workshops, and collaborations with other groups. We have connected with audiences at festivals such as Very Very Contemporary, and with initiatives inside and outside the 4lthangrund – from student musicians to inclusive cultural events in Vienna.
For us, 4lthangrund is not only a rehearsal space but a catalyst for encounters that would not happen elsewhere. It is a place where artistic, social, and political dimensions come together – and where new cultural practices can be imagined. This is why we stand in solidarity with 4lthangrund: its continuation is vital for us, for the people who meet here, and for the broader cultural landscape of Vienna.

Statement von VIMÖ Wien
Das Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund ist zunächst erstmal der Ort, an dem unser Büro ist. Das bedeutet, wir verbringen hier einige Stunden unseres Tages. Doch im Gegensatz zu einem normalen Büro kann man sich hier nach getaner Arbeit mit netten und vielfältig engagierten Menschen und Gruppen austauschen, gemeinsame Strategien entwickeln und eine schöne Zeit haben. Wir haben neben unserem Büro hier auch unseren Beratungsraum, den wir sehr einladend gestaltet haben und durch die gute Anbindung mit den Öffis und einer nahen Garage ist er wirklich sehr gut erreichbar. Manchmal haben uns Leute aber auch anrufen müssen, weil das Gelände insgesamt etwas unübersichtlich ist und sie vom eigentlichen Weg abgekommen sind. Am Ende haben uns aber alle wieder gefunden.
Besonders gut ist auch, dass wir hier recht einfach größere Veranstaltungen planen und umsetzen konnten, weil die entsprechende Infrastruktur im Kulturzentrum vorhanden war. Zum Beispiel fand im 4lthangrund die Premiere unseres Films „Inter*Story – ein Stück Aktivismus“ statt. Und gerade auch der Außenbereich mit der Hütte gibt dem Areal ein ganz besonderes Flair – und ist dabei niederschwellig, spannend und ohne Konsumzwang. Wir wissen auch, wieviel Arbeit, Diskussionen und Liebe einige Menschen in diesen Ort und seine Struktur gesteckt haben, damit es wurde, was es heute ist.
Insgesamt bedeutet uns das Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund sehr viel – es ist ein wichtiger und schöner (Lern-)Raum der Begegnung und Solidarität, der kollektiven Organisierung, bei der alle sich einbringen und mitgestalten können. Und der in den neunten Bezirk hineingewachsen und dort mit uns verwurzelt ist. Wir wünschen uns viel mehr solcher Räume in Wien!

Letter of Solidarity – kidzspAce Act.if (Deutsch)
Wir sind kidzspAce Act.if – ein Kollektiv von Kindern, Jugendlichen, Eltern und Verbündeten im Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund.
Unter dem Motto „gemeinsam, nicht einsam“ schaffen wir Räume, in denen Kinder und Jugendliche sich sicher, gesehen und gestärkt fühlen, ihre Umgebung aktiv mitzugestalten.
Für sie und ihre Eltern und Sorgepersonen wollen wir Austausch, Vernetzung und politische Teilhabe ermöglichen.
Mit Workshops sensibilisieren wir Menschen ohne Sorgepflichten, um sie für unsere politische Arbeit zu mobilisieren.
Wir erarbeiten gemeinsam mit Initiativen Awareness-Konzepte.
Dafür braucht es sichere, konsumfreie und beständige Orte – besonders bei Schlechtwetter, Kälte oder Hitze.
Das Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund bietet genau diese Möglichkeiten: Es gibt eine Küche, einen von uns eingerichteten Spielbereich und verschiedene Räume, in denen vieles nebeneinander stattfinden kann.
Hier können wir im Kleinen eine Symexistenz (Ortheil) von Kindern und Erwachsenen mit und ohne Sorgepflichten einüben.
Kultur wird nicht nur für Kinder gemacht, sondern aktiv von ihnen.
Ein besonderes Erlebnis war der Workshop Zukunftsvisionen mit Time’s Up (Linz): Während
Caretaker miteinander ins Gespräch kamen, entwickelten Kinder parallel ihre eigenen Bilder einer anderen Zukunft.
Eine transgenerationale, diverse Solidarität macht uns stark und resilient.
Gemeinsam mit den anderen Initiativen im 4lthangrund arbeiten wir an einer Stadt für alle.
Darum müssen Räume wie der 4lthangrund unbedingt erhalten bleiben.
Darum kämpfen wir für den 4lthangrund.
Letter of Solidarity – kidzspAce Act.if (English)
We are kidzspAce Act.if – a collective of children, young people, parents and allies at the 4lthangrund cultural center.
Under the motto “together, not alone” we create spaces where children and young people feel safe, seen, and empowered to actively shape their environment.
For them and their parents and caregivers we want to enable exchange, networking and political participation.
With workshops we raise awareness among people without caregiving responsibilities, mobilizing them for our political work.
Together with other initiatives we develop awareness concepts.
This requires safe, non-commercial and reliable places – especially in times of bad weather, cold, or heat.
The cultural center 4lthangrund provides exactly these possibilities: a kitchen, a play area we have set up, and different rooms where many things can happen at the same time.
Here we can practice, on a small scale, a symexistence (Ortheil) of children and adults with and without caregiving responsibilities.
Culture is not only made for children, but actively by them.
A special experience was the Future Visions workshop with Time’s Up (Linz): while caretakers exchanged ideas, children developed their own images of another future.
A transgenerational and diverse solidarity makes us strong and resilient.
Together with the other initiatives at 4lthangrund, we are working for a city that belongs to everyone.
That is why spaces like 4lthangrund must be preserved.
That is why we fight for 4lthangrund.

RidersCollective
4lthangrund has been an important place for the Riders Collective since our beginnings in 2021. Before we had our own rider space, 4lthangrund welcomed us to host our monthly ‚Spill it!‘ rider hangouts from Hütte. To this day,
they support us by providing space for some of our larger events, such as Reflectors – RidersCollective Cinema, Alleycats, and bike-related workshops and parties.
There is no doubt that spaces like the Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund are important for various communities in Vienna. Places where people can gather without needing to consume and attend diverse cultural events free of charge or on donation basis should be actively supported by the district and the city, and they should not struggle to find a suitable place to continue their work. We stand in solidarity with Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund and hope to continue holding many more great events together.
