We cordially invite you to a joint discussion with representatives from 4lthangrund, Amerlinghaus, Radio Orange 94.0, St. Marx and Semmelweisklinik. Together, we want to talk about the current situation, threats, but also perspectives for solidarity.
Many self-organised initiatives and non-commercial spaces are currently facing major challenges. Rising rents, budget cuts and the increasing economisation of urban spaces are seriously challenging the right to the city, the right to space, and the associated access to communal areas.

Currently, the St. Marx area is facing plans for a mega event hall – a symbol of urban development that is based on exploitation, eventisation and growth at any cost. We counter this with a vision of a city based on solidarity: a city of neighbourhoods, common goods, cultural diversity and mutual support, with small, local initiatives that take precedence over hyper-capitalist ‘make it mega’ projects.

The Amerlinghaus is also under pressure, with politicians demanding that it be ‘economically viable’ while at the same time cutting subsidies to the point where its existence is threatened. If this logic is applied to all social and cultural infrastructures, it becomes clear how much neoliberal urban policy undermines the right to self-determined, non-profit-oriented spaces.

The situation is similarly dramatic at Radio Orange 94.0, the free, non-commercial city radio station whose existence is threatened by massive budget cuts. However, independent media in particular are key players in a democratic, diverse and solidarity-based city where many voices are heard and made heard.

Planet 10 is a project for redistribution of privileges, money, work, papers, places to live, space, etc. and for collective use and organisation of a house.*
*Due to redistribution of inherited, donated and lent money the house was bought and now we create space for everyone who needs and wants to use it.
Redistribution should be an everyday practice

4lthangrund and the Semmelweisklink are also examples of places where the right to the city is put into practice: through collective organisation, open accessibility, cultural production beyond market logic and an understanding of space as a common good.

4lthangrund is a self-organized cultural and neighborhood center where the right to the city is practiced through collective use, openness and non-commercial practices. The space is currently in the process of moving and needs financial support as the city does not provide affordable spaces. Personnel are needed to help with the renovation and move. Ideas for a city based on solidarity are set out in a petition for more space for everyone.

The Semmelweisklink describes itself as a accessible place for independent artistic production, inclusive exchange and cooperation, as well as education and social activities. Creative temporary use of the 3,800 m² space is currently possible until the end of 2026, but the future beyond that is uncertain.

In this discussion, we want to exchange ideas and ask: How can we defend and expand the right to the city and the spaces associated with it? How can we strengthen solidarity networks between initiatives? How do we imagine a city that is organized not according to profit but according to needs – a city for everyone?
We look forward to a joint exchange, to networking and to thinking ahead about a future based on solidarity.

Wir laden herzlich zu einem gemeinsamen Gespräch mit Vertreter:innen von 4lthangrund, Amerlinghaus, Radio Orange 94.0, St. Marx und der Semmelweisklinik ein. Gemeinsam wollen wir über die aktuelle Situation, über Bedrohungen, aber auch über solidarische Perspektiven sprechen.

Aktuell stehen viele selbstorganisierte Initiativen und nicht-kommerzielle Räume vor großen Herausforderungen. Steigende Mieten, Budgetkürzungen und die zunehmende Ökonomisierung städtischer Räume stellen das Recht auf Stadt, das Recht auf Raum und den damit verbundenen Zugang zu gemeinschaftlich nutzbaren Orten massiv infrage.

Derzeit steht etwa das Areal St. Marx einer geplanten Mega-Veranstaltungshalle gegenüber – ein Symbol für eine Stadtentwicklung, die auf Verwertung, Eventisierung und Wachstum um jeden Preis setzt. Dem stellen wir die Vision einer solidarischen Stadt entgegen: einer Stadt der Nachbarschaften, der Gemeingüter, der kulturellen Vielfalt und der gegenseitigen Unterstützung, in der kleine, lokale Initiativen Vorrang vor hyperkapitalistischen „Make it mega“-Projekten haben.

Auch das Amerlinghaus steht unter Druck, von politischer Seite wird gefordert, sie müssten „wirtschaftlich tragfähig“ sein, zugleich werden Förderungen existenzbedrohend gekürzt. Überträgt man diese Logik auf alle sozialen und kulturellen Infrastrukturen, wird deutlich, wie sehr neoliberale Stadtpolitik das Recht auf selbstbestimmte, nicht-profitorientierte Räume untergräbt.

Ähnlich dramatisch ist die Situation bei Radio Orange 94.0, dem freien, nicht-kommerziellen Stadtsender, der durch massive Budgetkürzungen in seiner Existenz bedroht ist. Gerade unabhängige Medien sind jedoch zentrale Akteur:innen einer demokratischen, vielfältigen und solidarischen Stadt, in der viele Stimmen gehört und hörbar gemacht werden.

Planet 10 ist ein projekt zur umverteilung von privilegien (wie besitz von oder zugang zu geld, jobs, wohnraum, platz…) und zur gemeinsam organisierten nutzung und gestaltung des hauses und der aktivitäten im haus.
voraussetzung dafür ist, dass der umverteilungsgedanke tägliche praxis bleibt

Und auch 4lthangrund und die Semmelweisklinik stehen exemplarisch für Orte, an denen das Recht auf Stadt praktisch gelebt wird: durch kollektive Organisation, Zugänglichkeit, kulturelle Produktion jenseits von Marktlogik und Verständnis von Raum als Gemeingut.

4lthangrund ist ein selbstorganisiertes Kultur- und Nachbarschaftszentrum, in dem das Recht auf Stadt durch kollektive Nutzung, Offenheit und nicht-kommerzielle Praxis gelebt wird. Aktuell steht der Raum mitten im Umzug und braucht finanziellen Unterstützung, da die Stadt keine kostengünstigen Räume verfügbar stellt. Personell braucht es Beteiligung für Renovierung und Umzug. Ideel wurden Positionen für eine solidarische Stadt in einer Petition für mehr Raum für Alle ausformuliert.

Die Semmelweisklinik versteht sich als niederschwelliger Ort für unabhängige künstlerische Produktion, inklusiven Austausch und Kooperationen sowie Bildung und Soziales. Die kreative Zwischennutzung auf 3.800 m2 ist gegenwärtig bis Ende 2026 möglich und die Zukunft darüber hinaus unsicher.

Im Gespräch wollen wir uns austauschen und fragen:
Wie können wir das Recht auf Stadt und die damit verbundenen Räume verteidigen und ausbauen?
Wie können wir solidarische Netzwerke zwischen Initiativen stärken?
Wie stellen wir uns eine Stadt vor, die nicht nach Profit, sondern nach Bedürfnissen organisiert ist – eine Stadt für alle?

Wir freuen uns auf einen gemeinsamen Austausch, auf Vernetzung und auf das Weiterdenken einer solidarischen Zukunft.
